Do you own an apartment? Here’s how to make dealing with the National Land Survey of Finland easier for you

There is currently a backlog of owner apartment applications. Unless you have recently sold or bought an apartment, wait at least several months before applying to register your ownership in the Residential and Commercial Property Information System. Read this bulletin for tips on how to make things go smoothly.

Start with the asiointiapuri service to see how the registration of ownership should be handled in your case.

If the owner of an apartment has changed – you have bought or inherited an apartment, for example – you must apply for the registration of your ownership within two months.

If you own an apartment in a housing company that has been transferred to the Residential and Commercial Property Information System, you have ten years to register your ownership with the National Land Survey of Finland.

Here’s what to do before you come to visit a service point

  • Complete the application form (suomi.fi, in Finnish) before you arrive at the service point.
  • Even if you do not have a printer at home, read the form (suomi.fi, in Finnish) through. You will be able to complete the form at our service point while you wait for your turn.
  • If you don’t know how to complete some of the sections of the form, leave them blank and ask for advice when you submit your application.
  • No appointment is necessary for most of our service points. Customers are served on a first-come-first-served basis. An appointment system is currently being tested at six locations: Hämeenlinna, Joensuu, Kajaani, Lahti, Pori and Tampere.
  • Before leaving home, check the location and opening hours of the service point in case of any exceptional opening hours.

The registration of the ownership of an apartment costs EUR 69. If there is a separate share certificate for a parking space, a separate application for the parking space is required, which is subject to the registration fee EUR 69 according to the price list.

Please note that during peak periods, we will only allow as many customers in the queue as we will be able to serve before the customer service closes for the day. If the service point has a queue number device, it may be closed approximately an hour before the service point closes.

Apartment owner’s contact details

The customer service has received a large number of enquiries regarding the contact details of apartment owners. Most of the contact information in the Residential and Commercial Property Information System is up to date, as it is usually automatically updated.

If you are unsure of whether your contact details in the Residential and Commercial Property Information System are correct, please contact our customer service.

Application backlog

There is backlog of owner apartment applications. At the moment, the National Land Survey of Finland is mainly processing applications concerning apartments involving a change of ownership.

We will send you a notification once your application has been processed. For the average processing times of applications, see the Application processing times page.

If you are in a hurry, you can expedite the processing of your application by contacting our customer service. Expedited processing may be justified if a new owner needs to start a renovation or if an undivided estate of a deceased person wishes to sell an apartment, for example.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused by the backlog.
