Autio will join the NLS from Numera Palvelut Oy where she has worked as Chief Digital Officer (CDO). Her previous experience includes being the manager of the digitalisation services for traffic at the Finnish Transport and Communications Agency Traficom and among others, as the CIO of the Neste subsidiary Neste Engineering Solutions Oy and as the manager of IT services at Fennia.

In her role as CIO, Autio will be responsible for ensuring that the NLS uses modern technology and produces customer-driven, secure and sustainable digital services.

'In Information Management, we play a crucial role in ensuring that the IT systems used by the National Land Survey can be updated and developed and that we reach our IT goals. Promoting digitalisation requires close cooperation with various stakeholders as well as the appropriate allocation and development of roles and competences', says Autio.

The NLS has several significant development and modernisation projects in progress, with the continued development of the Residential and Commercial Property Information System and the modernisation of the topographic data production system being strategically the most important. The programme for the modernisation of property data is also proceeding with business and data architecture in cooperation with municipalities.

At the same time, another development programme is underway, whose key goal is to modernise the NLS’s capacity and data centre services to better correspond to future needs and to support the transition to cloud technologies.

'We have a significant opportunity to show our skills and our adaptability in development work as well as to direct operations in cooperation with various parties. We will be promoting solutions and operational models for operational development that ensure greater user satisfaction, reliability and cost effectiveness', says Autio.

The CIO is a member of the NLS management team and leads the Information Management unit, which enables digital services for the NLS’s customers and personnel. The position of CIO is a fixed-term public service relationship starting on 1 January 2025 and ending on 31 December 2029.
