Why is personal data processed?
The National Land Survey of Finland (NLS) collects the necessary personal data of individuals who attend events and webinars for the following purposes:
- To organise the event or stakeholder event and to take any special needs into account
- To inform the attendees about the event and for other communication purposes
- To collect feedback
- To inform the attendees of other similar events by the NLS.
What is the basis for the processing of personal data?
The NLS processes personal data for the performance of its duties in the public interest.
Whose personal data is processed?
The NLS processes the personal data of individuals who have registered for various events, as well as the contact details of individuals who have previously registered for events if the individuals have consented to the use of their data.
What personal data is processed?
- Names
- Roles (in the case of speakers)
- Telephone numbers (as necessary)
- Titles
- Email addresses
- Organisation information (as necessary based on event type)
- Information about special diets (as necessary for face-to-face meetings)
- Consents to receive notifications of upcoming events
Is automated decision-making or profiling used?
The processing of personal data does not involve any automated decision-making or profiling.
How long is the personal data retained?
The NLS will delete the personal data when it is no longer needed to organise the event or collect feedback.
The contact details may be used to send information about future events if the attendee has given their consent to this.
Where does the personal data come from?
The NLS collects the data from the individuals themselves when they register for events.
To whom is personal data disclosed?
The NLS may partially outsource the processing of personal data to event organisers, in which case we guarantee by contractual arrangements that personal data will be processed in accordance with data protection legislation and otherwise appropriately.
Personal data is not transferred to outside the EU or EEA or to any international organisations.
What are your rights in relation to the processing of your personal data?
You have the right to be informed whether the NLS is processing your personal data and if so, which data. You may submit a request to view your personal data using our form or submit a free-form request.
You have the right to request that the NLS rectifies any inaccurate personal data without undue delay. You may submit a request for rectification using our form or submit a free-form request.
You have the right to request that the NLS restrict the processing of your personal data. You also have the right to object to the processing of your personal data. You may submit a request using our form or submit a free-form request.
Right to lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Ombudsman
You have the right to lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Ombudsman if you are of the opinion that the NLS has violated legislation on the processing of personal data.
