Suvi, who currently manages an area of responsibility, started working at the NLS in 2019. Over the years, Suvi has worked in many different positions: as an application processor, registration specialist, information service specialist and service manager. Advancing on her career and working with different tasks have prepared Suvi for the duties of a supervisor and an area of responsibility manager. Suvi’s whole career has included one common theme: the digitalisation of share certificates and apartment matters.
Suvi graduated as a Master of Business Administration from the University of Lapland. Her studies included marketing, management, applied mathematics and statistics. After graduation, Suvi has studied law in her free time through the Open University, as well as a specialist vocational qualification in product development alongside her work. At the moment, Suvi is studying for a special vocational qualification in management. The employer also supports supervisors by offering management coaching, for example.
Suvi became interested in apartment matters even before she started working at the NLS. She worked at a bank with apartment matters, which provided a good foundation for working with the Residential and Commercial Property Information System at the NLS. During her years in banking, Suvi wondered how housing company share certificates could still be on paper, while property and stock holdings have long been in electronic form. When Suvi heard that the NLS is beginning to develop an electronic register for housing company shares, the Residential and Commercial Property Information System, she became immediately interested.
‘Already on my first job application, I wrote that I want to be involved in the digitalisation of share certificates in some way. This wish has indeed come true. I find it very significant in my work that in the future, the everyday life of many people working with housing companies will become easier as the home ownership information will be maintained in an electronic system,’ says Suvi.
There are colleagues all over Finland
Work at the NLS works is multilocational, taking place all over Finland. This is also reflected in Suvi’s work. She is the supervisor of 25 application processors who work in different locations in northern Finland. Suvi is a member of the management team of her profit centre, where the operations and management of the profit centre are developed together. She also collaborates a lot with other people working in different parts of the organisation, and she has colleagues all over Finland.
‘The best part of my job is definitely the people! As a supervisor, I consider it important to build a psychologically safe atmosphere, as it creates a good starting point for working together and succeeding. Despite the long distances, I feel a strong sense of community and joint effort with the profit centre and other NLS staff,’ says Suvi.
