The Research Policy of the National Land Survey of Finland, approved on 27 January 2022, describes the common focus areas related to research activities and their support operations, as well as their principles for the next three-year term. The Research Policy shows our intent regarding the research activities of the NLS.
The focus points of development areas for research activities at the NLS for the period 2022–2024 are:
- Strengthening societal visibility and impact
- Ensuring funding for research
- Ensuring responsible science
- Using our research effectively in development activities at the NLS
- Promoting the career paths and international mobility of researchers
Promoting responsibility is also highlighted in the research strategy of the National Land Survey of Finland’s Geospatial Research Institute. The research strategy highlights the role of the Finnish Geospatial Research Institute’s research in solving global challenges in four of its strategic competence areas: research foundations, resilience and solutions for people, smart sustainable cities and mobility and environment perception.
