Research support provides an expert service that allows the researcher to focus on their core task: research. Researchers need space to brainstorm, plan and do research. Therefore, we help researchers at every stage of their research, from applying for funding to the end of the research process. Our bold approach is to proactively develop our services in cooperation with researchers. This also requires us to be creative in our research support and to have the courage to experiment.
Our aim:

• Support the obtaining of external funding
• Strengthen the skills of research staff through up-to-date guidance and necessary training.
What do we do?
We deliver research support services in a multi-professional team together with the Deputy Director General of FGI and the Research Director of NLS. We support our researchers at different stages of research projects. Our services include:
EU and Grant Writing support:
- Following the EU’s research funding programs and informing FGI’s researchers about relevant funding calls and their requirements
- Pre-award support for FGI’s researchers in EU proposal preparations (e.g., reading, commenting and grant writing of applications, budgeting)
- Following the FGI’ EU funding applications and EU project portfolio
- Participating in (inter)national forums relevant to EU application support

- Library and Information Services to the National Land Survey of Finland
- Library resources and collections: electronic and print information resources
- Borrowing and acquisition requests of books, articles and other materials, information seeking services
