Hyperspectral stereoscopic imaging in Remote sensing (HSI-STEREO)
Imaging using light-weight, Unmanned Airborne Vehicles (UAVs) is one of the most rapidly developing fields in remote sensing technology. The new, Fabry-Perot interferometer-based (FPI) spectral camera makes it possible to conduct stereoscopic, spectrometric imaging from light-weight UAV platforms or small manned aircrafts. This new technology is highly relevant because it is opening up new possibilities for measuring and monitoring the environment, which is becoming increasingly important due to climate change and many environmental challenges.
The HSI-STEREO project will develop the next generation FPI sensors, FPI post-processing technologies, novel spectral unmixing and sub-pixel level analysis technologies, and apply the previous for the forestry, peat milling, extracting and storing and environmental monitoring. HSI-STREO is joint project of VTT Technology Research Center Finland, University of Jyväskylä, Finnish Geodetic Institute and Finnish Forest Research Institute (Metla).
