The aim of the project is to achieve a shared understanding of the current state of integrating statistics and geospatial data in Finland, as well as the development goals. This involves interpreting the GSGF (Global Statistical Geospatial Framework) and GSGF Europe in the context of Finland’s operating environment. The output will be a GSGF Finland report (including a shared glossary).

As a case study, the project will implement the application of the GSGF in Statistics Finland’s Business Information System. The case study will also adopt the national data quality framework. To standardize regional divisions, the project will also draft a proposal for a new national small-area division model, which will be used to create a pilot version.
