In EMRP SIB60 project we participate in the European Metrology Research Programme Joint Research Project “Metrology for long distance surveying”. Altogether 12 European research institutes and universities participate in this project, which the PTB, the national metrology institute in Germany, coordinates. The purpose is to improve tracing the kilometer to the SI unit metre. This is achieved, among other methods, by developing novel distance meters based on new technology and by research of GNSS-based distane measurements. Measurement sites include the Nummela Standard Baseline and the Metsähovi Research Station of the FGI.
