The main task of the DIGILE/D2I project is development of new data acquisition system for 3D/4D precision forestry. Our research supports the development of an intelligent information driven forest inventory system, in which i.e. used inventory method depends on the information need and that depends on the stand development class. At the first stage, the main aim in is in determining accurate timing of the next forest management operation as later on the focus is on up-to-date information that can provide accurate estimation of stem distributions and stem quality variables.
